Evon Schexnaydre, MD, FACOG, has joined the women’s health professionals’ team at UGL’s Hancock Family Health Center – OB/GYN.
Dr. Schexnaydre received her bachelor’s degree in science from Tulane University and her Doctor of Medicine from Louisiana State University in 1994. Additionally, Dr. Schexnaydre studied Biological Studies at Sanford University, Architectural Design Studies at Texas A&M, and Fine Arts and Mathematics at Citrus College.
Dr. Schexnaydre spent her childhood in Michigan, growing up in the southeast corner of the lower peninsula, particularly in Oakland County. She attended high school in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and later moved away to attend college. Despite leaving her home state, she always missed Michigan and considered it her true home. Dr. Schexnaydre loves everything about Michigan, including the lakes, farmland, seasonal changes, recreational opportunities, and friendly people. In her professional and personal life, she is passionate about improving medical services for women in rural and underserved areas, using the latest technology available. As an OB/GYN, she specializes in minimally invasive surgery and is particularly interested in robotic surgery.
Dr. Schexnaydre is grateful for her two unique and amazing sons. They have inspired baby names and provided stories to share with new parents. Her parents’ and grandparents’ sacrifices and journeys showed her the value of education and kindness. She shares this wisdom with struggling young patients.
“I love my job, profession, and career for many reasons. Seeing a family begin when a couple receives their firstborn is so beautiful. Having those connections with people and families and assisting them proactively or resolving an emergency is rewarding. Educating patients and families is part of my joy as I spend time with everyone and try to introduce humor where it might ease fears appropriately.”
